Oak Flat is a loft‑style space within a 19th‑century house, reimagined through a serene, contemporary open‑plan transformation. The project focuses on releasing the natural flow of the home by removing visual barriers, strengthening sightlines, and allowing light to travel freely across the interior.
At the heart of the scheme is dark oak — a material chosen for its warmth, tactility, and timeless architectural presence. Existing timber elements are restored and celebrated, while new interventions are designed with a restrained, modern clarity that complements the building’s heritage character.
The open‑plan layout creates a unified living environment where kitchen, dining, and lounge spaces connect seamlessly. Subtle level changes, crafted joinery, and carefully curated lighting define zones without interrupting the spatial continuity. The result is a home that feels both expansive and intimate: a place where daily life unfolds with ease, and where material honesty sets the tone.
