The memorial in Normandy was built to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day in Plumetot, Normandy, France. The design was selected in an international competition by a jury composed of members of the Royal Air Force, the Polish Air Force, the French authorities of Normandy, and families of the pilots. It is paying homage to the pilots of no. 302, 315, 317 Polish Fighter Squadrons who flew alongside the Royal Air Force in WWII during D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Commissioned by the Polish Air Force Committee in London and initiated by Franciszek Kornicki a WWII Polish Air Force Pilot. Services provided by my practice included the design, planning consent, conservation and heritage statement, project management, material selection and the monitoring of the construction works in coordination with the international memorial committee.
